Interview with Catherine of The Hygiene Bank, Moira .
Tell us a bit about yourself and/or your organisation.
The Hygiene Bank Moira is part of The Hygiene Bank charity. We collect new and unused products and link in with community partners in our respective areas to donate to. For example the Hygiene Bank Moira is linked with Moira and Lisburn Foodbank, Home Start, Baby Love amongst others. When we receive products we see what our partners need and distribute accordingly.
How well have you/your organisation adapted to the pandemic?
The Hygiene Bank Moira only really began during the pandemic. Boots UK is linked with The Hygiene Bank and has collection points in their stores. Boots Moira was one of the early stores to come on board and we continued to donate product throughout the pandemic.
What key needs are becoming apparent and/or are likely to arise this year?
We continue to donate to our community partners. As more people know about us the need is growing.
We require product donations but also donations via just giving. Donations of money mean we can buy products that organisations are lacking. We are able to fill the short fall by purchasing products required.
